Advocacy

CFUW Haliburton Highlands pursues advocacy
consistent with CFUW National Policy stated as:
CFUW encourages its members to use their expertise to bring about change, with particular reference to women’s issues such as violence against women, early learning and child care, education, economic prosperity and the empowerment of women as leaders and decision-makers.
CFUW also works on a global level for the adoption and implementation of international agreements that will protect and benefit all women and girls. CFUW holds special consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC). CFUW regularly sends a delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Over the years, CFUW has taken a stand on innumerable social issues based on our policies (i.e. adopted resolutions). Here you will find more information on some of these issues, advocacy tools and resources, International Women’s Day, our National Initiative on Violence Against Women and the United Nations. Advocacy has many layers. Our club advocates through partaking in the national CFUW resolution process bringing about change that can affect members of society at large. We advocate for women and children through our collaborative efforts with like-minded community organizations. We advocate for women and girls in their pursuit of higher education through our bursary program. We advocate for all by creating meaningful craft projects. We advocate for our community by giving back with our volunteer hours. Advocacy is active and growing at CFUW Haliburton Highlands. |
