2021 Resolutions & Member Proposals - Detail & Voting Link
There will be four Resolutions put forward at the 2021 CFUW Annual General meeting on June 25th:
1.Single Use Plastics and Packaging
2.‘Right to Repair’ large domestic appliances
3.Canada’s Opioid Crisis
4.Post Pandemic Recovery for Women in Canada
For those who are new to CFUW and those of us that forget from year to year, CFUW directs its advocacy efforts towards the policy statements it adapts through the Resolution Process of the current year or prior years. These four resolutions, if passed at the AGM, will be added to that list of policies sanctioned by CFUW. As always, I have made it as easy as possible to cast your vote. You will receive an email with a link to the voting page. For those of you that would like a further explanation, the link will include a path to a briefing document which clearly states the resolutions, backgrounds, rationale and bibliography. The results of our club’s vote will be posted on June 17th and announced at the June meeting. Pam and I will be attending the CFUW 2021 AGM on one 25th and will cast the club’s votes.
In addition to the resolutions, there are a number of club motions dealing with the level of CFUW fees, use of the restricted funds, and payment of GWI fees and outstanding payables. First, I should note that all monies owing to GWI for prior years fees have been paid. I am not sure how exactly the vote on the fees motion and use of restricted funds will be handled, but my understanding is that they will be presented in the order they appear and clubs will vote in favour of the ONE motion that they wish to support, voting against all other motions. So, vote in favourite of the motion that you like best for each of the Set Dues and Use of $20.71 Restricted Reserve motions.
The voting page will be available on June 4th and will close on June 15th. You will, of course, receive a couple of reminders to vote!
